The Friendship sloop, was a Coastal Fishing Boat that Became a Classic Cruising Sailboat popular on the coast of Maine and elsewhere. Friendship sloops originated in the coastal town of Friendship, Maine in the late nineteenth century. Originally used for fishing and lobstering, the gaff-rigged sailboats were later adopted by cruising sailors for their seakindly ways and superb good looks. Friendship sloops range from about 21’ to 50’ in length, and are still being built in both wood and fiberglass. The boat shown in the photo is Bay Lady of Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

The hull itself is available with a gloss natural finish, or painted in custom colors by special order.
