The Luders 16 was originally designed by A. E. Luders in 1934 for the Fishers Island Yacht Club. The boat continued to be popular through the sixties. The class began to decline in the seventies, although there has been some resurgence. The boat is still being built and is being offered by Morris Yachts in a fiberglass version.
